UNBIAS ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the UNBIAS mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Information you provide voluntarily:
- Email address — If you choose to sign up during onboarding. This is optional and can be skipped.
- Category preferences — The life areas you select (e.g., Business, Relationships, Parenting, Self Care, Artificial Intelligence).
- Notification preferences — Your preferred notification times and frequency.
- Appearance preferences — Your chosen theme (dark or light mode).
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — Quotes viewed, quotes saved, daily streak information. This data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Device information — Device type and operating system version, collected only as needed for push notification delivery.
Information we do NOT collect:
- We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, or any financial information.
- We do not use cookies or third-party tracking on the website beyond standard web analytics.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- Email address — To send you occasional updates about UNBIAS, if you opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Preferences — To personalize your experience within the app (selected categories, theme, notification schedule).
- Usage data — To display your personal stats (streak, quotes read, saved quotes). This data stays on your device.
- Push notifications — To deliver daily bias-awareness quotes at your chosen times.
Data Storage and Security
The majority of your data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This means:
- Your saved quotes, reading history, streak data, and preferences remain on your device.
- If you uninstall the app, this locally stored data will be deleted.
- We do not have access to your locally stored data.
If you provide your email address, it is stored securely and protected using industry-standard security measures.
Third-Party Services
The UNBIAS app uses the following third-party services:
- Expo / React Native — The framework used to build the app. Expo's privacy policy applies to push notification token management.
- Expo Notifications — Used to schedule and deliver push notifications. Notification tokens are used solely for delivering your requested daily quotes.
We do not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics tracking, or social media SDKs.
Children's Privacy
UNBIAS is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Opt out of communications at any time.
Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
